SPRING IS IN THE AIR

This painting made in oils is the second in the series of six paintings of different seasons. One part shows a garden in full bloom and the second part shows a women drenched in colours of Holi by her love just as Radha was coloured by Lord Krishna. The colourful festival marks the end of spring season. The season’s beginning is marked by the festival of Basant Panchmi which is celebrated by worshipping Goddess Saraswati, who is the Goddess of intellect and learning and embodies art ,science, music, crafts etc.Education of small children is started this day with the blessings of the Goddess. Yellow , which is the colour of mustard flowers and a bright ,cheerful colour is used this day. People wear yellow dresses ,offer yellow flowers to the Gods and prepare yellow dishes.Kite flying competitions mark this day.
