I don’t follow fashion trends religiously but I like to keep informed. I think if it suits you, you like it and can afford it, you must follow the fad.                                                                                                                                                              I have worn bell bottoms and long skirts (Indian style) but these get dirty from sweeping the ground which I don’t like. When I was a teenager, girls were not allowed to wear western dresses, so I would borrow my younger brother’s t-shirts and elder brother’s jeans.                                                                                              We are lucky we have so many choices- western dresses, sarees (different lengths, styles of tying and draping), salwar-kameez-dupatta and dresses of different regions in India and Indo-western dresses.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           My favorite is saree which is an unstitched  cloth of various lengths and worn with blouse  and an underskirt. The designers come up with different styles of tying the saree and modifications in blouse (necklines, sleeves, lengths) and underskirts are replaced by trousers. Stitched sarees are available for those who find it difficult to tie these.                                                                                                                                                      I like sarees of different regions- weaves, embroidered, blingy all with simple blouse, draped in the simplest style.                                                                                                                                                                                                   I love that nail polishes and lipsticks are available in all colors. I don’t like the caviar lipsticks though.                                                                                                                                                                       Another fad I don’t like is permanent tattoos and body piercing.DSCN1916 DSCN1670
