These photographs were taken at the Sukhna Lake, man made lake. It is a tourist spot where people come to spend time with their friends and family, walk and meditate and enjoy nature. It is a favorite spot for artists and photographers. Migratory birds and abundant flora at the regulator end are studied by Bird Club enthusiasts. There is also provision for boating.                                                            I enjoy going there with my daughter who likes to click photographs. I sit and recall the days when I didn’t live in this city and would visit the lake with my cousins and also as a part of field trips in school and college. The backdrop of the mountains and twinkling of lights of the neighbouring town in the evening is fascinating. Even though the water does not flow, the movement of water caused by the breeze is soothing. One forgets the stresses of daily life. It is sad that sometimes misguided persons end their lives in these waters.DSCN1475                                                                                                                                                                                                           DSCN0654                                                                                                                                                                                                                   DSCN0933

  1. Beautiful photos. Especially one with sun light reflection. Sparkling!

  2. That was lovely. Your writing about these photos worked well too. I felt bad when you pointed out that some sad souls ended their lives there. Too bad isn’t it? Life is difficult, but we need to persevere. Not everyone believes that though.

    • Thank you. We live inland at the foothills of the Himalayas and have only a seasonal river (where people farm when there are no rains and not much water when it rains). Thanks to the vision of the great planners who created Chandigarh that this lake was created. It is the pride of the city, a tourist spot. We go there so often and it is difficult to resist clicking photographs of the various moods of the lake. Yes, there are people who feel that the problems of their life outweigh the love of their loved ones and some people are genuinely mentally disturbed. The worst are the lovers who foolishly drown themselves instead of facing life.
